Midjourney Now Has An AI Editor For Any Uploaded Images

The text-based image generation platform Midjourney has a new smart editor. It allows users to change any image from the Internet using the company’s powerful artificial intelligence capabilities.

The tool allows you to edit images as if you were working in Photoshop. This is done very simply: you need to select an area and write down the changes that need to be made in text.

There’s also a feature called Retexture, which lets you rework images. CEO David Holtz said it uses the latest advances in “depth control” to make smart edits based on text descriptions.

For example, you can upload a picture of your living room and then ask Midjourney to add or remove elements, change the texture or color of the walls, and even adjust the lighting to make it look like the photo was taken at night.

The author of the Telegram channel “Jimmy Neuron” has already tested the editor’s capabilities in terms of inpainting – removing unwanted objects from an image and filling these areas with the desired background. Using this function, he created “Beavers of the Ring”, replacing the characters of ” The Lord of the Rings ” with beavers. The result can be seen below.

The developers understand that such a powerful tool carries certain risks: it can lead to numerous copyright violations and the emergence of new levels of deepfakes. Therefore, access to it is currently provided only to those who have an annual subscription and users who have already generated more than 10,000 images.

The company plans to implement various monitoring systems soon to prevent abuse of the editor. Perhaps after that, it will become more accessible.
